Kelly Connaghan - Yoga Teacher

Yoga Class Practical SessionsGuest Tutor

I started doing Yoga in 1999 with Lynda at her gym. I found it helped me to deal with stress and worry at a time when my son had a lot of medical problems.  Lynda encouraged me to do my teacher training, which I started at Santosha in 2012, qualifying in 2013. I had a great room at my home which I have transformed into my own studio and mostly teach my students from there.  I have since completed further training, qualifying as a Pregnancy Yoga teacher in 2014 and a Yoga Therapist.  It is a real honour to be able to assist Lynda on her Teacher Training course, especially as it was Lynda who inspired me all those years ago.

Guest Tutors are invited to give sessions throughout the course.  This gives students different teaching techniques and the confidence to build a Yoga business.

Yoga for Sport

The course focuses strongly on practical work and we dedicate a weekend to 'Yoga for Sport' with a separate certificate detailing the weekend's sessions (Guest Tutors and Speakers)

Homework

Students will actively home study and practice over the 7 month period, completing approximately 1 essay (A4 size) per month.  Towards the end of the course, a 6 week one to one assignment (or class plan) will be completed before graduation.

A Module Certificate will be presented halfway through training.  This motivates and encourages students as enthusiasm can go down at this time.  So a lift in passion and drive fuels students to the finish line.

“A truly unbelievable experience…”

I came to practice Yoga about 9 years ago, in what was then a predominantly female environment, but soon found myself smitten, bringing the practice of Yoga into my everyday routine to help with my passion for running. As I continued to practice I felt I wanted to deepen my understanding and broaden my knowledge of Yoga and its benefits. I looked at various courses, but wasn’t convinced until I came across Sky Blue and contacted Linda who in one conversation put my mind at ease and welcomed me along to the course. I cannot express how much support and informative tutoring we have received along with encouragement, challenge and direction and a greater understanding of life , family and work balance when it comes to our personal study. It truly has been an unbelievable experience with a wonderful tutor and supportive fellow trainees who have now become new friends. My advice - don’t think twice, this lady is inspiring and that comes through in the course where I have been encouraged on my journey to become a teacher of Yoga. Many thanks Linda!

“Course has been truly unbelievable…”

When I first signed up to the course my biggest fear was that I wouldn’t be good enough.  I can’t do (and never will be able to do) headstands, owing to prolapsed discs in my neck and the trend for complicated advanced poses on social media nowadays, only fuelled my concerns further. I shouldn’t have worried however, as Lynda is a very genuine, warm and encouraging teacher, with a wealth of knowledge and she has supported each of us to identify and develop our unique strengths as Yoga teachers. Through my training I have formed firm friendships with a diverse group of people with a shared love of Yoga, which I know will last a lifetime. I have grown as a person both in terms of my confidence in my ability to teach but I also feel much more content in my life in general. It sounds clichéd but signing up to the course has been life-changing. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

“Course was excellent and I highly recommend it…”

I completed my 200 hour Yoga teacher training in July 2018.  When I first started I was very nervous and worried about if I was good enough for the course.  I quickly realised that everyone else was feeling the same way! Lynda taught us over 10 weekends and I have learned so much; her teaching skills are excellent and she even made the learning fun.  Lynda invited specialist tutors from different fields during the course to help broaden our knowledge and enable us to be much better teachers.  The course was excellent and I highly recommend it to anyone, whether you want to teach or just learn more about your personal yoga and its benefits. My Yoga practice has improved along with my confidence and the course has given me pride and ownership in my Yoga. All I can say is go for it!

“A truly amazing experience…”

In the summer of 2017 and after much deliberation, and many, many doubts on whether I could possibly be a yoga teacher I sent an email to Lynda at Skyblue Yoga to enquire about her YA200 Hr Teacher Training course. She replied almost immediately with course dates and information, and I started to break out in a sweat! I quickly noticed that I would miss the very first introductory session and, with a sigh of relief, quickly sent an email back apologising that as I’d miss the first session, I wouldn’t be able to take the course ….. she didn’t let me off the hook and arranged for me to go to one of her evening classes and meet with her after. As soon as I met Lynda, I felt connected. I knew I had found the tutor for me, a strong presence with warmth, compassion and more importantly a sense of humour. I signed up the very next day.
I have been teaching at my local community centre for almost 18 months now and looking back on those 10 months, which flew by, I now realised and appreciate just how much Lynda has taught me and how much I have changed because of it.
It was a truly amazing learning experience and I will be forever grateful for the time spent in the company of Lynda and all the other amazing ladies on the course of 2017/18.
